1st Grade Teachers



Miss Kayla Girtz grew up in Indiana and earned a BA in education from Cedarville University. Prior to joining NCA in 2016. She taught 3rd grade on the Mercy Ships Academy, a non-profit organization that seeks to provide hope and healing to the world's forgotten poor of Africa through the utilization of the world's largest hospital ship. Some of her favorite pastimes are playing volleyball, singing, hand-lettering quotes and verses, and photography.

Mrs. Cassie Hart graduated from Northwest University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and English as a Second Language (ESL) Teaching Certification. Prior to NCA, she taught English and Math in South Africa while working with a local ministry. She joined NCA in 2008 teaching 2nd grade and working for the Thrive Program as a specialized multi-sensory tutor for Kindergarten– 3rd-grade students. She has a passion for teaching and foreign missions which she shares with her two children and husband Brandon, who pastors in Marysville.

Mrs. Cheryl Howard has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Western Washington University. Prior to coming to NCA, Mrs. Howard taught first grade for 11 years in Christian schools. Mrs. Howard has been teaching at NCA since 2003. She enjoys spending time with her family, making homemade stamped cards, working in the yard, and traveling.

Mrs. Hannah McCutchen received her Master’s at Northwest University and a B. A. from the University of Washington. Ms. Mason joined NCA in 2016. She loves going camping and hiking with her family. She also enjoys going to Mariner’s games, hosting dinner parties and doing art projects. She has always enjoyed working with and being around children.

Ms. Tamarin Reed earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Residency Teaching Certificate both at the University of Washington. She began teaching at NCA in 2014 and she has one child who attends NCA. She and her family enjoy adventures and the outdoors including berry picking and making jam.
